Fatherhood:
Fatherhood is an eternal quality of God: (Ephesians 3:14-15).
The ultimate purpose of Jesus is to bring us to the Father and to reveal Him (John 14:6; 17:11).
1. Coming to the Father gives us identity, self-worth, and security (1 John 3:1).
2. Human fathers are to represent God to the home (1 Corinthians 11:13). They can do so in the following ways:
A. All believers are priests to God (1 Peter 2:9) and fathers are to use their priestly ministry to represent the family to God in intercessory prayer. This brings divine protection (Exodus 12:3,4; Acts 16:31; Mark 9:17-27).
B. All believers are kings (1 Peter 2:9), and fathers can use their kingly ministry to govern the family “on behalf of God.”
C. Fathers can represent God to the family by being His spokesman (Deuteronomy 11:18-21). To do so, the father must spend time with the children “sitting in the home”.
3. The failure of fatherhood leads to a curse (Deuteronomy 28:41; Malachi 4:5,6; Hosea 4:6). Children around the world are falling into the captivity of sin, the occult, drugs etc:
The destiny of our children lies largely in the hands of fathers.
