Abortion and Birth Control:
From the moment the sperm of a man and the egg of a woman meet, a human life begins (Psalm 139:13; Psalm 51:5; Isaiah 49:5). No man has the right to take the life of an unborn child once it has been conceived. Abortion is not God’s answer for problems. When under the pressure of an unplanned pregnancy we feel as if there is no other way to deal with the problem, except abortion, but He longs for us to call out to Him for His solution! Jeremiah 33:3. So many women who have gone down the route of abortion only to suffer very tough emotional, physical, and spiritual problems at a later date. There are fifteen different methods of contraception, make sure that the one you both choose is not abortive. Also remember to protect yourself against sexually transmitted infections which are in abundance these days. The contraceptive should not kill the egg after conception. It should merely prevent the male’s sperm from reaching the female’s egg. The I.U.D. and the morning-after pill can be considered abortive; whereas the pill, the contraceptive injection or implant, and devices such as condoms and diaphragms are not.
If any woman has had an abortion, or has been forced to have one, there may be deep emotional scars and hurts.
Confess the abortion as a wrong and receive God’s forgiveness (1 John 1:9). Forgive yourself (Romans 8:1) and if needed, pray and receive God’s healing. Always remember that there is nothing that we have done that is too difficult or too big for the Almighty God to forgive or sort out. One of the strongest lies of the devil is that in any situation “there is no way out” and so we are pushed into doing something which when in a more balanced frame of mind we would not consider. But everything gets completely out of proportion so we make a decision too quickly and regret it. Never forget that God’s will may not be easy but it will always be the best for us in the long run.
His will is always in line with His Word.
