This study contains ten modules, based on the book of "Galatians" in the New Testament section of the Bible. Galatia was a Roman province in central Asia Minor and the apostle, Paul, visited it at least three times on his various "missionary journeys". Both he and his message were warmly received by the people there but, later on, some people that Paul described as "agitators" went there and challenged Paul's authority and his teaching. Paul wrote a letter to the church there in response to what he regarded as false teaching and this is what we know as "Galatians". The "agitators" were claiming that Christians needed to follow the Jewish law, including its requirement for men to be circumcised. Paul firmly rejects such teaching and emphasises that we are saved from our sin only by grace - not law. Paul's message in "Galatians" was largely instrumental in launching the "Protestant Reformation" towards the beginning of the sixteenth century in Western Europe.
